On Saturday, visit Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel and watch lacemaking in action, as our demonstrator shows the historic techniques of crochet, bobbin, and shuttle work used in the Victorian era. This free events run from 1:00 - 3:30 pm.

Take to the field with the Bulls or the Hogs and play ball! Howell Farm’s two teams play by 19th-century Town Ball rules, and invite visitors of all ages to step up to the plate as “Striker” and face off against the “Thrower.” But be careful of the Referee, who sits in a chair on the field and charges fines of up to 5 cents for breaking the rules!
11:00 am – Watch the Flemington Neshanocks face off against the Elizabeth Resolutes in a historic baseball club match
1:30 pm – Join Howell Farm's own Hogs and Bulls for a public game on the farmhouse lawn
Howell Living Farm is open from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Please note that all 2022 programs will be modified to encourage social distancing and reflect current State guidelines for public events. Visitors are required to carry masks at all times, and wear them when social distancing isn't possible.

Reopening the School-House Museum
The Lacey Township Historical Society will reopen the old school house museum on Saturday from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm for tours. Come out and meet author William J. Lewis to discuss the beauty of the NJ Pine Barrens. The history of surviving living in the pinelands with skills learned from Lenapes until they were encouraged by the government to relocate. Underground Railroad Trolley Tour
On Saturday at 9:30 am, join the Center for Community Arts (CCA) Community History Committee on a trolley tour of the places where escaped slaves sought refuge and help to continue their journeys to freedom. Hear how legendary anti-slavery fighter, Harriet Tubman, walked these streets, as did prominent railroad businessman and former slave, Stephen Smith, whose railroad cars carried hundreds to freedom. The trolley travels through parts of Cape May and West Cape May, with stops along the way, including the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Board the trolley at the Washington Street Mall information booth at Ocean Street for this tour. Admission is $25 per adult and $15 per child (ages 3-12).
