Allaire Village's Easter Egg Hunt
Children Friendly Event & Site

Celebrate Easter at Allaire Village! On Saturday, from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, join us for an Allaire Village Easter Egg Hunt! There are over 10,000 eggs in the village! Hunts are divided into age groups: 0-1 (with an assisting adult), 2-4, 5-7, and 8-10. A hunt takes place every 15 minutes and hunts are continuous throughout the day from 11:30 am - 4:00 pm.

The Easter Egg Hunt is $6 per person, children under age 1 admitted free! Pre-registration is highly recommended; all members of your party must have tickets, not only the children participating in the hunt. Tickets are available below or over the phone at 732-919-3500. Tickets will be reserved under your name and can be picked up upon your arrival. Registration and pre-registration check in takes place in the Visitor Center beginning at 10:00 am. Egg hunt times are assigned upon your arrival.

Other activities include:
* Story time with Clifford the Big Red Dog
* Visits from the Easter Bunny
* Face Painting
Balloon Animals
Historic House and Building tours
Storytelling at the Enameling Building
Craft Demonstrations in our Blacksmith Shop, Bakery, Carpenter Shop, Tinsmith Shop
Bonnet Parade and Contest (bring your own home-made or purchase and decorate on-site) at 3:00 pm in front of the General Store.
Decorate an Easter Basket
Egg Toss & Roll Games
* Guess how many jellybeans are in the jar! If you guess them correctly, you get to take the jar home! Jar is located in the bakery.

Open Hearth Open House
Children Friendly Event

Join us at the Covenhoven House on Saturday from 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm for our Open Hearth Open House. Take a tour of the historic house, enjoy 18th-century recipes cooked on the hearth, and period children’s games outside. This event is free and open to the public. Visitors will be transported back in time as costumed interpreters demonstrate how food was prepared in an eighteenth-century open-hearth kitchen at the Covenhoven House in Freehold. Featuring a rotating theme and menu, this program offers visitors the opportunity to learn about colonial foods cooked over the open hearth, then sample the results. Afterwards, enjoy a tour of the 1750’s home, illustrating what life was like for the Covenhoven family as they moved away from their Dutch traditions and embraced a more English lifestyle.

50 Years Later: 1968 and the Vietnam War - Fortification of Hué and the Turning of the War

The year 1968 was pivotal in both Vietnamese and United States history. Learn about these changes in this lecture series. marking this anniversary on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Hidden Treasures Appraisal Day

Ever wonder about that heirloom that’s been in your family for generations? Or that great buy you found at a garage sale? At the Hidden Treasures Appraisal Day, you can find out the history and the value of your treasured object. A joint fundraiser by the Montclair History Center and the Montclair Women’s Club, the Hidden Treasures Appraisal Day takes place on Saturday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. The fee, which benefits both organizations, is $20 for the first object, $15 for the second. Members of either organization receive a $5 discount. Sign up on-line at www.montclairhistory.org.
