Organization of the Week: Friends of Absecon Lighthouse

Every Monday, I highlight a non-profit related to history or the arts, a historical society, preservation group or friends group whose main objective is to promote the historical and artistic history of New Jersey.

This week, I am featuring the Friends of Absecon Lighthouse. The Friends are the fundraising arm of the Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City, NJ. Their support supplements funding received from grants and donations. The Friends have a program to raise funds for the lighthouse called "Own a Piece of the Light" campaign. Interested donors can purchase bricks, steps, and other architectural features. Members enjoy special privileges, such as Dolphin Watch Cruises, discounts to events, Gift Shop discounts, and unlimited admission.

The Friends of Absecon Lighthouse rely on memberships, fundraising, and countless volunteers to continue its mission. For more information on programs, special events, exhibits, and trips hosted by the Friends of Absecon Lighthouse or to become a member or volunteer, please call 609-449-1360 or visit www.abseconlighthouse.org.

If you are a member of a non-profit organization or know of one that you would like to see featured on this site, please let us know in the comments or send an e-mail to kelly@thehistorygirl.com.
