Organization of the Week: Goschenhoppen Historians, Inc.

Every Monday, I highlight a non-profit related to history or the arts, a historical society, preservation group or friends group whose main objective is to promote the historical and artistic history of the tri-state area.

This week, I am featuring the Goschenhoppen Historians, Inc. The Goschenhoppen Historians, Inc. is a non-profit volunteer organization incorporated in 1965, dedicated to the promotion, education, and preservation of the Pennsylvania Dutch folk culture through community involvement, and by preserving and maintaining the Henry Antes House Museum.

In addition to maintaining the Antes House Museum, the Society offers their annual Goschenhoppen Festival. The society has been holding the festival since 1966 to showcase the skills and trades of the Pennsylvania Dutch. Over 500 volunteers participate each year in order to make the festival come to life.

The Goschenhoppen Historians, Inc. relies on memberships, fundraising, and countless volunteers to continue its mission. For more information on programs, special events, and exhibits hosted by the Goschenhoppen Historians, Inc. or to become a member or volunteer, please call 215-234-8953 or visit www.goschenhoppen.org.

If you are a member of a non-profit organization or know of one that you would like to see featured on this site, please let us know in the comments or send an e-mail to kelly@thehistorygirl.com.
