Organization of the Week: The Trenton Museum Society

Every Monday, I highlight a non-profit related to history or the arts, a historical society, preservation group or friends group whose main objective is to promote the historical and artistic history of New Jersey.

This week, I am featuring the Trenton Museum Society. The Trenton Museum Society is a volunteer, non-profit organization that supports the Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie Mansion in Cadwalader Park in Trenton. The Society supports the acquisition and conservation of the permanent collections and originates programs to sustain and nurture the cultural life of Trenton and its artists, and to foster aesthetic awareness in fine and decorative arts. Throughout the year, art exhibits by local artists are hosted on the first floor, while the second floor hosts permanent and changing exhibits on Trenton's history.

The Trenton Museum Society relies on memberships, fundraising, and countless volunteers to continue its mission. For more information on programs, special events, and exhibits hosted by the Trenton Museum Society or to become a member or volunteer, please visit www.ellarslie.org or call 609-989-1191.

If you are a member of a non-profit organization or know of one that you would like to see featured on this site, please let us know in the comments or send an e-mail to kelly@thehistorygirl.com.
